Removing asbestos during a remodel

We bought our house knowing it needed a fair bit of work, but we could never have guessed how complicated the job would get in the end. It turns out not only do we have asbestos in the walls, but also, at some point, the previous owners had some asbestos insulation put in the roof. There are a lot more precautions that we need to make as result but, I'll feel a lot better knowing we aren't cooking and eating our meals near asbestos. Our remodeling contractor has been great and has stepped us through the whole process. Join us on our remodeling journey!

Nifty Tips for Renovating Your Bathroom's Shower Enclosure

by Joanne Sullivan

Bathroom renovations are something you are bound to do at least once during your residency at your home. Considering that this is a wet room, water is likely to damage some elements of your bathroom eventually. Moreover, since the bathroom is utilised on a daily basis, it will probably develop some wear. But if you are thinking a bathroom renovation has to be a complete overhaul of the space, then you are mistaken. In fact, it is easier to tackle one area at a time so that the remodelling project does not overwhelm you. So where best to start than your shower area? This article will offer a few nifty tips for renovating your bathroom's shower enclosure.

Install a glass shower screen

Shower curtains have been the staple for decades. But if you are honest with yourself, you can admit that a mouldy old shower curtain might not always be the best solution for your bathroom. The easiest way to fix this problem is to switch out the shower curtain for a glass shower screen. Glass shower screens offer a host of benefits that shower curtains cannot. For instance, the transparency of the glass will help improve the lighting in your bathroom, eliminating any shadows. Moreover, the glass shower screen will make your bathroom seem more spacious since it is not obstructing any views in the room.

Opt for bench seating

You may be thinking that a bench in a shower is exclusively for the elderly who may have developed mobility problems. And while this is a feature in bathrooms used by seniors, it does not mean that you cannot benefit from the same. If you have a large shower enclosure, having a bench put inside it presents you with the opportunity to enjoy a luxurious scrub whenever you feel like taking your time. Additionally, spacious bench seating can be great for couples who want to relax and enjoy each other's company in the shower.

Invest in a rain showerhead

Taking a shower is typically viewed as a quick hygiene chore and never associated with the relaxation of soaking in a tub. However, this does not have to be the case. Believe or not, when you change your conational showerhead to the rain variety, you will be giving your entire showering experience a revamp! Rain showerheads are much larger than their traditional showerhead counterparts are and exude a sense of extravagance. Additionally, the large head ensures your entire body is covered in water, rather than having to shift around in your shower. Coupled with bench seating, this type of showerhead will make all the difference in your shower enclosure!
